An Old Stitched Piece And A Great Find...

Christmas is slowly approaching so I thought I would include a finished piece I  stitched some time ago.  Still one of my favourites and she hangs carefully in my spare bedroom.

  While stopping in at our local Frenchy's used clothing outlet I spied this lovely wooden butter bowl?For now it has found a home above my toilet tank, but I may fill it with Christmas stitching and display it my kitchen.  I have wanted one of these forever but simply could not afford the prices antique stores charge for them.  A mere three dollars and it was mine!! I have been feeling badly due to a cold and my moms illness and halted progression in her condition so getting out today was a good thing.  I'm sooo tired time for bed...

Don't you love this lamp!

Neighbours had just moved in and were downsizing so I became the recipient of this sweet lamp!  Very different shade and little metal ball light pulls. By the way I DO dust! (the mirror on my dresser is very old and worn)!

An antique cutlery box finish

This is the before photo of this anitique box, grungy, old and dirty.  A little wash, sanding, paint, distressing, varnish and voila!  I love it!!

My Dyeing Attempt

Well, this is my first attempt at dyeing some 18 ct Aida for a Halloween piece.  I kinda like the way it turned out!

A New Outfit For Autumn

Just finished this little hat and coat in record time for our new Grandaughters Christening.  The hat was so fun to stitch and the little coat was a lot of time but I like the way it turned out!

My mom at age 16

This was my mom almost 60 yrs ago.  She had a stroke in July and is now in rehab.   I had no idea the different types of strokes you can have and it affects everyone differently.  Not to mention the toll it takes on the family.  She has had such a difficult life.  I would appreciate any prayers for her.  Kind thanks, Rosa.

A cute Floss Box finish for me!

This was a fun one to stitch!  I added the bats instead of the hearts the pattern called for and substituted the spider for the star in the centre.  Now just to figure out how to finish it off!

Scissor FOB from my Secret Sister

I recieved this lovely handmade scissor FOB in a Secret Sister exchange.  I had never recieved one before and immediately fell in love with the dragonfly (as I love dragonflies)! I will think of you Dian each and every time I use it!

A Little Halloween Finish

A freebie finish for me today.  Actually took some time to stitch after a long time away.  My mom had a stroke so every day is busy with hospital errands and visits.  Was nice to take some time to stitch away from my art.  I also dug out an antique pipe box which I think will be the surface for this piece.

Peruvian Daffodils

While out walking through the garden tonight I noticed my Daffodils in bloom.  Wow! What a lovely flower.  This is my first year for them and if you get a chance to get some, do! 
First Laser session on my back today.  After much pain and suffering I decided to seek out this therapy I have heard so many good things about.  I wonder how my back will be tomorrow.

A yard sale find today!

I fell in love with this little antique painted picture today I got at a local yard sale.  The back is signed and it needs a few touchups but I love ocean scenes with children playing on the beach.  I think I have an old antique frame hanging around my craftroom somewhere that will fit this perfectly!!

A necklace finish (almost)

I wanted to share this necklace finish which I have been working on for the past week.  I just have to put the chain on and it will be complete for my upcomming art/jewelery sale.

Spring, my favourite time of year!

The following are a few pictures from my garden.  I love spring and today was actually a lovely sunny day Nova Soctian day (considering the past week has been rainy) so Bella and I got some gardening done.  I especially love primroses and the violet ones are called "Wanda Primrose" which are perennial so every year they share their beauty!

Easter Finish

I decided to put my little Easter finish on a dress for my Nephews little girl Victoria.  I think the colours go great together!  And of course Belle E. Button and her new Easter dress from her Auntie!

Rainy day finish

Today was a dull dreary Nova Scotian day so after church I decided to finish the little basket with linen stitching.  The top is actually a canning jar lid, covered with padding and the lid knob are two beads glued together shhhhhh!LOL!  This was a freebie from http://www.thestitcherhood.com/.  The little basket I bought for 25 cents at a yard sale.  It was stitched with Hand-dyed Fibres Caribbean Reef.  I am pleased with the way it turned out.  Its been quite a while since I stitched on linen.  I have enough thread to stitch a small biscornu or scissor fob as well.

Sparrow's Nest Progress

This is Whit's Knits Sparrow's Nest with leftover Fleece Artists boucle' wool and acrylic sock wool.  I'm going to felt the nest to make it a bit smaller and bring the fibres close together.  The pattern calls for knitting the nest on four needles but I chose to knit it on two and then stitch around the brim (much easier)! This is a free pattern from http://www.purlbee.com/.  Enjoy!!

My Little Primitive Angel

I love anything with Angels and I have hooked many of these little ones as most people enjoy them as "fridge magnets" which can be displayed all year as well as being functional.  If interested in purchasing one of these please drop me a note.

Simply All Season Scarf

After knitting several of these scarves I decided to come up with my own version.  I love the wool I am using which is very soft and lightweight.  The variations in colours remind me of the "Mr. Freezies" we used to enjoy as children!  After discovering Bamboo needles a few years ago I will never go back to the old slippery metal ones!  These needles hold the wool perfectly and prevent it from slipping but yet allow you to freely guide your yarn for knitting. This is an all season scarf which can be enjoyed Spring thru Winter.  If interested in purchasing please inquire. 

Sweet Bag Finish

Well this morning I decided to stitch up my little forgotten bunny freebie.  I decided to turn it into a sweet bag for Easter.  I like the way it turned out!
This bad sinus infection has put me behind in so many projects.   The sun is shining today and I am happy to be alive and well!!

Another Easter Finish

This little finish really does not suit my decor, but for Easter I guess I may keep it!LOL!  Now how to finish is always my problem, any suggestions?

A few Easter finishes (well almost)!

Not sure yet how I will finish this one.  I would like to put it on a basket but do not have a tall narrow basket to put it on!  I think it will probably become a little door knob hanger.  I found the trim at our local dollarstore which seems to match very well.  What do you think?

The Last Knit Video and a finish

Today after getting groceries on this rainy Maritime day I came home and sat down at the computer and stumbled across this cute video.  If you are a  knitter I'm sure you can relate!

Well I thought I would pull out my shawl I knit last year from recycled yarn.  I think it turned out quite well.  I started with a simple (one) stitch and continued with garter stitch increasing beginning of each row until desired length. Voila"!  It really was that simple.  Bella decided to help as she always does, God forbid should I go anywhere in the house without her knowledge or shall I say "approval"!  What a dog!!!!

Spring is in the Air!
